SM Health Communications LLC is led by its President and Founder, Stanton R. Mehr. Stan has over 30 years of experience in health care publishing and project management, most recently as Executive Vice President and Editorial Director of Medicom International Inc. He was the Founding Editor of Managed Care Interface, the first monthly, peer-reviewed journal for the managed care industry, and its sister publication Long-Term Care Interface.
After earning his B.S. degree in Biology in from the State University of New York at Stony Brook, he began his career in the health care editorial field with Plenum Publishing, editing technical science texts. During three years of employment at Harcourt Brace Jovanovich's health care publishing division in New York City, he completed his training as a private pilot.
He was appointed Executive Editor of Le Jacq Publishing's clinical magazines, including Cardiovascular Reviews and Reports. Five years later, he was recruited to be the Editorial Director of a new company, Medicom International, with the intention of starting a brand new monthly peer-reviewed publication in a fledgling sector managed health care. He was the Editor of Managed Care Interface from its birth in 1988 until February 2007. He left his long-time position to explore other opportunities, through the operations of SM Health Communications.
He married Sandra Kovacs in 1984, and they have a son, Jason, in graduate school.
